JMB Living

Hi! I'm Julie, founder of The Art of Intentional Living Community and creator of beautiful guided seasonal journals focusing on wellness and living intentionally. I teach journaling as a tool, not only for mental wellness, but also for creating what you want out of life. My journals are quite unique – guided journal, planner and magazine in one. They include articles sharing inspiration from wellness professionals, vision board space, habit trackers and so much more. I also just release Worthy: A Radical Self-Love Journal. Each week I release new videos on my YouTube channel with suggestions and ideas for slow living and intentional living.

⚡️Reignite Your SPARK! (Starting now)

Midyear Kickstart (that Feels Really Good) Lately I've been feeling a bit frustrated with myself for losing momentum on my beginning of year fitness goals. If you've been feeling a bit of the same, this is your gentle, encouraging nudge: It’s not too late to get back on track. In fact, this is the perfect time for a reset. I've found that one powerful way to regain your momentum is this: Make Yourself Proud! Not to impress anyone else. Not because you should. But because it reconnects you to...

✈️ This wasn't the trip I expected...

Hi Reader, Just got back from visiting family in the Pacific Northwest and have a thought or two to share with you. We'd set aside the last day for wine tasting—multiple stops, all carefully planned. But at the first winery, something unexpected happened that shifted the course of our day… and actually, the whole trip. It got me thinking about how easy it is to fall into the “see it all, do it all” mindset when we travel—and how much we might miss because of it. In this week’s YouTube video,...

What you are MISSING...

How Did I Miss That??? It was an odd shaped tree. I'd never seen one quite like it before. The dense leaves from base to top formed the shape of an upside down cone, and it was completely flat on top. "How interesting," I thought. Then it dawned on me that I've walked by this tree once or twice a day for years and never noticed it. How is it that we miss so many interesting things in plain sight? My bet is we simply don't view our surroundings often enough with a DEEP dose of intentional...

💐 Chickweed, dandelions & choosing peace...

My dad used to tell us, "There is no good and no bad, things just are as they are. It's all about the perspective you choose." The logic of it always made sense, but was hard to embrace when steaming with frustration. Recently I was pulling the same weeds that seem to find a way to come back every year, no matter how much I mulched. My first impulse was to be annoyed at how this seems to be a never ending task. Then I was reminded of some recent wisdom I'd heard from Ellen Langer on a...

New 🤔 My body sent a quiet warning...

Hi Reader, Have you ever had one of those weekends where you did everything you loved—and yet felt totally off on Monday? That was me recently. I spent two full days playing in my flower gardens, planting vegetables, completely in my element. I had dirt under my nails, was enjoying the sunshine filled days and was definitely in my happy place... But then Monday rolled around, and I lacked energy, was noticeably irritable, and even had a few surprise hot flashes. 😳 I didn’t think much of it at...

⁉️ Are your planters TOXIC?

Hi Reader, Have you ever planted something with the best intentions… only to find out later it wasn’t so great for your health? Recently I planted strawberries in a tiered planter that turned out to be made from recycled tires—yikes! Needless to say, that sent me down a rabbit hole of research on food-safe containers and how to grow edibles more intentionally. This week’s YouTube video is a little different—and a little fun. I’m showing how I made strawberry planters out of used milk jugs...

Where I found happiness hiding...

inside this tool... When I was a teenager, I thought I'd find happiness if I was part of the cool kids group. When I found myself part of this exclusive club, I realized I didn't fit in and had to look for happiness elsewhere. In college I thought, "When I finally get done with school, I'm going to be so happy!" Then real life began. After I found my incredible husband after two other failed attempts at marriage, I was ecstatic–until I took on a job that sucked the life out of me. Sure, there...

I broke this rule... You should too!

Hi Reader, Have you ever followed a rule or expectation—just because it’s what you "should" do? I recently caught myself doing exactly that while taking an online course. One of the assignments clearly wasn’t helpful or necessary for me, yet I still felt oddly guilty about skipping it. It made me think… How often do we follow “the rules” without even realizing it? And how much time, energy, and peace are we giving away in the process? 🌿 In my new YouTube video, I’m sharing 7 common rules so...

7 Tiny Luxuries to add BIG joy!

Hi Reader, Have you ever noticed how a small, beautiful moment can change how your whole day feels? Moments that add a smile to my face can be as simple as one flower in a tiny bud vase or lighting a candle at the table for dinner–or even for breakfast like I did this morning. These little things might seem insignificant, but they have a quiet power—the power to bring you back to the present, to make life feel intentional, and even to spark joy in the middle of an ordinary day. In my latest...
Fresh rhubarb bundles ready for sale.

What you don't want to miss today...

What Delight Does Hurry Hide? I was thinking today about the little delightful moments in life that we miss when we are in a hurry to accomplish things quickly. This morning I decided that some rhubarb with my oats would be a lovely spring breakfast. I took a handful of rhubarb out of the refrigerator and quickly rinsed it off. Then I lined up the ends of the stalks so that I could cut off the brown tips all at once. As I got ready to slice the rest of the rhubarb into 1 inch pieces, I...
