Pausing to reflect...
As I pause and reflect on the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. today, I find myself thinking about what freedom really means.
I’m especially aware of my own personal blessings when I sit with that word. Each morning, when I open my journal and see freedom written in the top right corner — one of my core values — I’m usually thinking about something very simple: the freedom to shape my day the way I choose. The freedom to decide how I spend my time, my energy, and my attention.
Today, though, that word feels heavier. Broader. More meaningful.
It reminds me of the freedoms I often take for granted — the ones that exist because of the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of people who worked for a world that was more just, more humane, and more aligned with dignity for all.
Moments like this remind me why I care so deeply about living intentionally. Because freedom isn’t just something we inherit — it’s something we can honor through the choices we make, the lives we design, and the way we show up each day.
So today, I’m sitting with a few simple questions — and I invite you to do the same, if it feels right:
Where do I feel most free in my life right now?
Where might I be longing for a little more freedom?
How might I use the freedoms I have to support greater freedom, dignity, or ease for someone else?
There’s no right response here — just an invitation to reflect and perhaps find a way to carry a little more intention into your days. ❤️ Julie
I honor freedom by living in alignment with my values.
