JMB Living

Hi! I'm Julie, founder of The Art of Intentional Living Community and creator of beautiful guided seasonal journals focusing on wellness and living intentionally. I teach journaling as a tool, not only for mental wellness, but also for creating what you want out of life. My journals are quite unique – guided journal, planner and magazine in one. They include articles sharing inspiration from wellness professionals, vision board space, habit trackers and so much more. I also just release Worthy: A Radical Self-Love Journal. Each week I release new videos on my YouTube channel with suggestions and ideas for slow living and intentional living.

The lessons from my momma you need now...

Hi Reader, Last year, I started noticing something about my mom. She’s 83 now—and somehow, she seems happier and more at ease than she was a few years back. More confident. Lighter. More engaged with life. This caught my attention, because there was a stretch of time after my dad passed away when that wasn’t the case. She struggled. She seemed a bit negative. Making decisions felt heavy. Joy for her seemed harder to come by. And then, slowly, something shifted. Watching that change made me...

💕 Wisdom, laughter & what WON'T wait...

Happy start to this week! A friend from our community sent me a video this weekend that really struck home. It’s a 92-year-old woman sharing what she wishes she had known when she was 60. She was encouraging people to realize that life, our health and relationships are more fleeting than we might imagine. As I listened, it reinforced the importance of the changes I've been making in my own life in recent years–to take better care of my body, to cherish and nurture my relationships and to...

Why Retirements Fall Short (it's not about the money)

Hi Reader, Most women spend years planning for retirement financially. But almost no one talks about what happens after the work ends — when the structure, identity, and rhythm you’ve lived with for decades quietly disappears. That’s what inspired my newest YouTube video: Why Retirement Falls Short (It’s Not About the Money) In it, I talk about: Why time alone doesn’t automatically create fulfillment The identity shift many women are surprised by in retirement And why this season of life...

✅ An Easier Way to Set Goals (It's Working for me)

And just like that... The first month of the year is already behind us. Whenever a new month rolls around, I often like to pause and consider How do I feel about the progress I made last month? Not Did I do everything I said I would? Not Was I productive enough?Just… How does it feel in my body and mind when I look back? Lately, I’ve been reading a book that I've been finding helpful in this exact area: Feel-Good Productivity: How to Do More of What Matters to You by Ali Abdaal. I loved one...

➡️ New Video is Live...

Hi Reader, Just a quick note to let you know that the video I mentioned yesterday is officially live. It’s all about the most ignored part of retirement planning — the lifestyle, identity, and emotional side of this big transition that so many of us aren’t taught to think about ahead of time. If you already took the Retirement Profile Quiz, this video will give a little more context around why your profile matters and how it fits into the bigger picture of designing a fulfilling retirement....

What FREEDOM means to me today...

Pausing to reflect... As I pause and reflect on the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. today, I find myself thinking about what freedom really means. I’m especially aware of my own personal blessings when I sit with that word. Each morning, when I open my journal and see freedom written in the top right corner — one of my core values — I’m usually thinking about something very simple: the freedom to shape my day the way I choose. The freedom to decide how I spend my time, my energy,...

Progress WHILE Feeling Good...

Hi Reader, Honest truth... Last year, I didn’t make much progress on the things I thought I would. I was deeply focused on wellness — caring for my body, my energy, and my nervous system, so I'm okay with that. Yet this year–I'm feeling the itch to make some major headway on a few things that are important to me as well. Instead of pushing harder, I'm trying something different. I started leaning into what I’m calling Feel Good Progress — progress that protects your health, joy, and...

The REAL Secret to Productivity is surprising...

"The secret to productivity isn't discipline, it's joy." - Ali Abdaal How you ever noticed how much more you accomplish when you feel good? I think back to the days when I started each morning with a to-do list a mile long and was bound and determined to check it all off by the end of the day. As evening approached I'd push myself to do just one more thing. On the days I felt low on energy and my mind was frazzled... I'd just push myself harder. This wasn't the best path to accomplishing...

Start the Year Softly...

A Different Approach... January doesn’t need to be loud or ambitious to be meaningful. You don't need a rush of resolutions, programs, and promises–there’s something deeply nourishing about sitting down with a cup of something warm and asking yourself a few honest questions. Not to fix anything. Just to notice. If you’re craving a slower, more intentional start to the year, here are a few journal prompts you can return to again and again this January: Journal Prompts for Starting the Year...

✅ A “DO LESS” List to end the year...

Your DO LESS List What if this week between Christmas and New Year’s could have a different rhythm. What if you let the noise quiet. The calendar loosen. Time feels soft somehow. So many of us feel an odd pressure to use this week well—to organize, plan, clean, decide, improve. I’d love to offer a different invitation. A “Do Less” List for the Final Week of the Year You don’t need to: Catch up on everything you didn’t get to this year Clean, purge, organize, or overhaul your life Be...
