🥵 What to do now when it's TOO darn hot...

Remember the Joy's of Summer

I've been hiding lately... From the humid heat. From the swarms of mosquitos that seemingly line up outside my door hoping for a fabulous feast as soon as I exit. The lazy days of summer have arrived.

It's time to shift my perspective and remind myself of the sweet joys of summer so I can delight in them while pushing away thoughts of the daily rise of the thermometer.

Finding things to appreciate is such a powerful antidote to what ails. If you too find yourself trying to speed up this season, here's a few thoughts to get you started on your own list of the many sweet reasons to savor summer.

  • The sun rising at an easy time to enjoy it–cooler temps and the golden hour touch of the sun on summer lawns.
  • Ice cold sweet tea or chunks of fresh melon turned into the perfect summer cooler in the blender with just a spring of mint and a squeeze of lime.
  • Peeling open a fresh picked ear of corn and wondering how nature manages to line up those rows so perfectly.
  • That magic hour at dusk when all of a sudden the glow of fireflies blink in the warm summer sky.
  • The sound of cicadas, crickets and tree frogs lulling you to sleep at night.
  • How cool you look in those sunglasses that hide the beginnings of any wrinkles at the corners of your eyes.
  • Children laughing, running through the sprinkler or spray from a fountain.
  • Spitting cherry seeds or the trickle of a juice from a perfectly ripe peach–savoring every bite.
  • The rumble of thunder with the quick drop in temperature as a well needed summer rain begins to swoop into town.
  • Cool dips in the pool.
  • Bare feet.
  • Lemonade stands.

Okay summer. Let me be here now. 😎 🌻 ⛱️
