🤔 But what if you COULD...

Making Room for Joy

Yesterday my sister-in-law, asked me to go to a little garden shop down the road from my house this morning. My first inclination was to decline the invitation as my day was already a bit full, not to mention the week ahead.

Yet I knew I would enjoy the trip to St. Matthews Feed and Seed and her company, so I decided to go anyway. It occurred to me when I got back how often we are quick to decide we can't do something–either because we are too busy, we think we don't have the funds for it, or we think we aren't capable.

The reality is, things are rarely that black and white. If we allow ourselves the time to do things we enjoy, we usually just figure out a better way to accomplish what needs to be done. Or we realize what can get done later, or ditched entirely.

Many times if we feel something is outside what we feel comfortable spending, we can find something similar at a lower price, or recycle, or reuse something we already have.

And when we don't think we are capable, that just means we don't have enough knowledge yet, or we haven't practiced enough yet.

What have you been putting off doing that you'd like to do?

For the last several years I told myself I didn't have time to start plants from seed and was worried that I would have trouble caring for them when we travel. I get a great deal of joy in watching those tiny little sprouts grow, bloom or get harvested, so this year I decided to do it anyway.

I make the choice to do it anyway a lot and these days even more so when it comes to finding time for the little things that bring me joy. After all, isn't that what life should be all about–lots of little joys, connecting with others, learning and growing.

So the next time you hear your inner voice say, "I can't." ask yourself "but what if I could?" and give it a little further think to see if you can find a way to make it happen.

Have a lovely week my friend! 🥰 Julie
